The Geriatric Dental Program University of Maryland Dental School

The Geriatric Program at the Dental School provides didactic and clinical training opportunities, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to the provision of oral health services to older adults. Didactic course work occurs primarily during the first, second and third years of the curriculum, while extramural clinical opportunities occur during the third and fourth years. The current extramural programs include two long-term care facilities in the Baltimore Metropolitan area and two Geriatric Assessment Programs. Additional geriatric focused experiences occur during the student community-based program during the first two years. These sites include life care centers, rehabilitation programs as well as participation in health screening programs.
